When are the classes normally conducted?
Classes are usually conducted three days a week between 5:00pm to 9:00 pm.
Each semester consists of 13 weeks of teaching followed by a one week study break and a one week examination period.
What are the pre-requisites of the DIT Programme?
All applications will be considered based on the information provided on the application form. Therefore all applicants are advised to accurately complete this form. If necessary an applicant can request consultation prior to submission of the application form by calling the DIT office.
Will the Diploma in Information of Technology improve my chances of acceptance to a degree programme at the University of the West Indies?
The Diploma in Information Technology qualifies applicants who possess four (4) CXC General Proficiency level subjects
(including English, Mathematics and an approved science subject, but excluding Information Technology), or equivalent for acceptance into the three year degree programme in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology or
- Information Technology/Computer Science jointly with Accounting/Economics,
provided the candidate registers for MATH0101: Preliminary Mathematics 1 and MATH0102: Preliminary Mathermatics 2 or has equivalent qualifications in Mathematics.
Can I take a single course from the programme?
Yes, a student can be accepted to take any course of their chosing from the programme.
On successful completion of the course the student will be given a letter of completion.
Can I take the programme in two years rather than one?
A student who wishes to pursue the diploma in a duration longer than one year should seek special permission by way
of an accompanying letter of request along with their application. |
