University Centre

The University comprises three campuses:

• Cave Hill* in Barbados
• Mona* in Jamaica (with a unit for hotel and tourism management situated in the Bahamas)
• St Augustine* in Trinidad and Tobago.

Many matters are now devolved to campuses, but responsibility for overall policy direction and various other issues remains with the University Centre, under the Vice-Chancellor.  Most Centre Offices are located at Mona, the original campus of the University, which was opened in 1948.

The Vice Chancellery* comprises Offices, headed by Pro-Vice-Chancellors and serving:

• the Board for Graduate Studies and Research*, at Mona and Cave Hill
• the Board for Non-Campus Countries and Distance Education, at Cave Hill
• the Board for Undergraduate Studies*, at Mona

as well as

• the Vice-Chancellor's personal office*, Mona
• the Capital Campaign Unit, Mona
• the Legal Unit
• the Office of Administration, Mona
• the Office of Finance, Mona
• the Office of Projects, Mona
• the Office of the University Management Auditor, Mona
• the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Office of Administration and Special Initiatives*, Mona

It also includes

• the Centre for Environment and Development*, Mona
• the Centre for Gender & Development Studies*, Mona, with units on each campus
• the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic Research, on each campus
• the Institute of Education, Mona
• the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Research*, Director at Mona, units on each campus
• the Seismic Research Unit, St Augustine
• the Tropical Medicine Research Institute, Mona
• the Unit for Advanced Training and Research in Fertility Management, Mona
