Ethics and Applied Ethics - PH19B
Reading
There are two essential texts for this course:
J.L. Mackie, Ethics: Inventing Right and Wrong (Penguin, 1977)
P. Singer (ed.), Applied Ethics (Oxford University Press, 1986).
The lectures and what is on the Web-server complement but do not replace these books. You will be expected to show acquaintance with and understanding of them.
Another book that will prove particularly useful is:
J. Glover, Causing Death and Saving Lives (Penguin, 1977).
