E.P. Brandon

Caribbean Curriculum, 6, 35-53

This paper sets out some of the main elements of the University of theWest Indies' policy on distance education, as it has been formulated in the period since the University's decision to become a "dual mode" institution.  It begins by sketching the earlier situation and some of its problems; it indicates how the more recent policies attempt to address them; and it closes by raising various unresolved issues, some of detailed implementation, some of more speculative policy.
