Registration Steps

New students are reminded that they must receive academic counseling before attempting to register.

Continuing students who are unsure of which registration period applies to them should use the verification system to determine their correct registration period.

The steps below explain the procedure that should be followed to successfully complete your registration for classes using CHOL.

Students are advised to first run a Degree Evaluation before registering for classes.

This will allow you to see what courses you have completed thus far and what courses you need to do to complete your degree programme.

In light of the changes in programme requirements over time, students should note that the information set out in the Degree Evaluation are subject to the approved faculty regulations. When in doubt, students should consult with their Faculty Advisors.

This initial step should better inform your decision on what courses you should register for this semester. A document that guides you through the process of running the Degree Evaluation can be downloaded here.

After you have successfully logged into CHOL, do the following:

  1. Click Student & Financial Aid at the top of the menu presented.

  2. Click Registration.

  3. Click Add/Drop Classes.

  4. Click on the term in which you wish to register (200810 for Semester I 2008/09).

  5. Click Submit Term.

  6. Students must register for a Lecture and the associated Tutorial and where necessary the Practical and the class tutorial (for Pure & Applied Sciences only). Now you need to make your selections. Sections are identified by their course Reference Numbers (CRN). If you know the course reference numbers for the sections you wish to select do the following or go to Step 7 below.
      • Enter CRN numbers in the input boxes.
      • Click "Submit Changes".

  7. If you do not know the CRN for the sections you wish to select, do the following:
      • Click "Class Search".
      • Select the subject for which you need to register.
      • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Find Classes".
      • Click the check-box on the left side of the screen to indicate the course you wish.

  8. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and Click "Register".

  9. Repeat this process to select all of the classes that you wish to register for in the current semester.

  10. Scroll down and make sure that all the classes you chose show on the screen and their status is Registered Web. This is shown on the left side of the screen. If your schedule indicates any registration errors please first refer to the list of common errors and their explanations found here. If your error is not explained there and/or you are unable to correct the error on your own, please contact the CHOL Help Desk using the contact information provided at the bottom of this page.

  11. For your own purposes, you may wish to print the screen displaying the courses you have successfully registered for. Also, you may wish to print your class schedule by clicking Student Schedule by Day & Time at bottom of the registration page and printing the screen(s) displayed.

  12. Click Exit at the top right hand corner of the page.

  13. Click Return to Home page.

  14. Close your internet browser. Congratulations! You have completed your registration.
