Bernadette CAILLER, is a Professor Emerita in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, University of Florida (Gainesville). She has worked and published on a number of French-language writers with special emphasis on the Caribbean and Africa. Her publications include: Proposition poétique. Une lecture de l'œuvre d'Aimé Césaire (Naaman, 1976), Conquérants de la nuit nue: Edouard Glissant et L'H(h)istoire Antillaise (G. Narr, 1988), and Carthage ou la flamme du brasier. Mémoire et échos chez Virgile, Senghor, Mellah, Ghachem, Augustin, Ammi, Broch et Glissant (Rodopi, Amsterdam, 2007). Her keynote address is entitled: « Aimé Césaire: a warrior in search of beauty »

E. Anthony Hurley is Associate Professor of Francophone Literature of Africa and the Caribbean and affiliate faculty in the Department of European, Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Stony Brook University, State University of New York. His publications include Through a Black Veil: Readings in French Caribbean Poetry (Africa World Press), Migrating Words and Worlds: Pan-Africanism Updated, and translations of French Caribbean poetry in The Oxford Book of Caribbean Verse (2005). His keynote address is entitled: "Reading Césaire: Césaire on Césaire".
