The research interests in the Faculty are diverse, addressing both fundamental questions in Science as well as finding scientific solutions to real life problems facing Caribbean people. Faculty members also constitute an unmatched source of expertise to Governments, Non-Governmental Organisations and the Private Sector in providing technical advice and services. CERMES

Sports Agronomy Research Unit
The Faculty’s Sports Agronomy Research Unit
(SARU) has been established to conduct basic and contract research and provide consultancy services in the area of living grass surfaces for sporting and recreational activities. It complements the UWI Centre for Cricket Excellence and is part of the University’s thrust to help develop sports in the region.
Through funding from the Peter Moores Foundation (UK), the University runs horticultural courses and a research programme at Andromeda Botanic Gardens
, a property of the Barbados National Trust.
Faculty Solar Energy Project
The Faculty has an outreach programme aimed at promoting the use of solar energy stills, solar dryers and photovoltaic panels in Barbados and the region.
