How to Apply

If you are studying at one of the UWI Cave Hill Campus’ partner institutions and wish to apply to come to Cave Hill on exchange, there are 4 steps that you must complete:

  1. Contact Home Institution: Your application must be forwarded to the Cave Hill Campus’ International Office by your home institution. To see if your university has an exchange agreement with the UWI Cave Hill, please click here.

Please Note:
  • The UWI Cave Hill offers exchanges to students during semester I (Fall) and/or semester II (Winter) term only. Summer School is not a part of the exchange programme.
  • When filling out forms related to your exchange, students should use their email address that they check most regularly, since email is our primary means of communicating with students.
  • Exchange students coming to UWI Cave Hill are required to have a sufficient command of the English language. As a guideline these TOEFL scores provide a good indication of the level of English needed to study at UWI-Cave Hill. Typically, an official TOEFL score or a letter from your home university indicating appropriate language proficiency will provide adequate proof.
  • If a student requires disability services, they should indicate what kind of assistance they require when they submit their application form.

Application Forms and Due Dates:

  • Undergraduate and Graduate Exchange Application: April 15
  • Exchange Program On-Campus Housing Application: These are to be completed and submitted with your application and should be received by the date indicated above. The forms are processed by the Halls Administration Office and the International Office cannot guarantee processing times.  The Halls Administration will contact students directly with their final decisions.

  1. Receive Admissions Package and Make Arrangements for Student Visas/Visitor Visas (where necessary): After the UWI Cave Hill Campus reviews the application and supporting documentation, accepted students will be issued an admission package. This package will include the forms that are required to apply for the required student visa. Students starting their exchange in September, can expect to receive their admission package by July.

Please Note: It is a student’s responsibility to comply with all Barbadian immigration requirements and to process the necessary documents for travel to Barbados.
Visit http://immigration.gov.bb/pages/StudentVisa.aspx to familiarise yourself with the requirements.

  1. Enroll in Courses: Information about UWI Cave Hill’s courses and areas of study can be found at http://helios1.cavehill.uwi.edu:9011/kronos1_prodch/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched. Some courses have pre-requisites and students should ensure that they possess the required pre-requisites. Be sure to note any pre-requisite restrictions before enrollment. You will be able to enroll in your courses after receiving confirmation from the International Office at UWI Cave Hill.

After Your Exchange

Transcripts

At the end of a student’s exchange period, the International Office will send the original transcripts to the partner institution. Students are required to make their own arrangements if they would like a personal copy of their transcript. Student’s transcripts cannot be issued if a student owes fees to UWI Cave Hill.

The University of the West Indies transcripts show final official grades for courses taken. This grade is a letter grade. If the home institution requires students to have number grades and break downs of course work, they must make a request to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Examinations Office (records@cavehill.uwi.edu ) prior to departure from the campus.

Transcripts can be requested from the Student Records Office using the following link http://www.cavehill.uwi.edu/chol/examinations/request-transcript.aspx
