Classroom Services (AV)
Educational Media Services is responsible for equipping teaching spaces to support the use of technology by faculty and students. A programme is currently underway to create a core of "smart" classrooms with Internet connection in addition to the range of other AV equipment. Equipment available for loan to faculty includes:
VCRs
Television monitors
LCD projectors
Document cameras/visualizers
Overhead projectors
Slide projectors
Projection screens
CD Players
Easels
PA systems
Support equipment

Graphics & Multimedia Production
EMS can assist faculty with the production of a range of visual materials including:
· Full-colour overhead transparencies
· 35mm slides
· Full-colour charts, graphs, displays, postersetc.
· Computer graphics
· Other graphic services as requested
EMS also provides assistance with developing multimedia productions and presentations, incorporating video, sound, graphics and text, utilising the following packages: PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & PageMaker

Video & Audio Production
EMS can undertake video and audio production to near broadcast quality including shooting, scripting and editing in VHS and S-VHS formats. We can produce documentary or instructional materials with digital effects. The Unit has a VTR studio which can facilitate studio productions, including video/audio-taped interviews, discussions etc. with visiting scholars and experts for classroom use or public education. Faculty may also arrange for videotaping of their classes as part of personal assessment activities.
Video & Audio Duplication
EMS can duplicate/dub video and audio tapes in VHS or S-VHS formats. The EMS will require proof that you own the copyright or have received permission to copy from the copyright owner, before copying any materials.

Web-enhanced Course Development
EMS can provide faculty support and training in the use of the WebCT course management system currently in use at the Campus. In addition to putting syllabuses, lecture notes, assignments etc. online, faculty will learn to effectively establish forums for their classes, provide their students with links to relevant resources on the Internet, and in general create a more flexible and accessible study environment for their students.

Media Consultation
Staff of EMS are available to provide advice and assistance to faculty relating to the use of instructional technology in teaching. We are also willing to provide advice and assistance to students wishing to utilize information and communications media in a creative approach to assignments and projects. It is advisable that EMS be consulted before departments purchase or install any media equipment.
