IT Services
The Campus IT Services (CITS) Department
Llocated south of the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex, provides technology services to students.
The IT Services available to you include:
  • Internet access (wired & wireless)
  • Computer labs
  • Printing services
  • Self Service Password management
  • The Student Portal
  • Email services
  • The Online Software Store
  • Live IT Support (online chat service)
University ICT Policies
Use of the Campus IT Services resources indicates compliance with The University’s ICT policies. 
Take a moment to read the IT policies as you are expected to be aware of them.
Network Logon Account
Every new student is assigned a Network Logon Account which allows access to:
  • Lab computers
  • Student Portal
  • WIFI network
  • The Learning Management System (my E-Learning)
  • The Library E-Journals
  • Photocopiers etc
  • The Online Software Store
Your default Network account information is:
Username: Your Student ID number
Password: FL@ddmmyy
(Password using First and Last Name initials in upper case, followed by the “@” sign and DOB - day, month, year, 2 digits each)
You must change your first password at first logon.  Your password for the network logon account expires every 180 days.  You can change your password using the network account manager at

MyCaveHill Student Portal
(Single Sign On (SSO) to all Campus Online Services)
The Student Portal at provides a central gateway to multiple resources with the convenience of a single login.  This is the preferred method to access services.
Use your Network Login Account to sign into the Student Portal to access:
  • CHOL (Cave Hill Online) – Student records, timetables, financial services, registration      
  • MyCaveHill Mail  - Student email service used for all university-related communication
  • MyCaveHill eLearning – Lecture notes, tutorials, quizzes
  • Library Resources – Electronic Journals and books
  • Campus Information - Notices, Campus Calendar, News & Events
Cave Hill Online (CHOL) allows you to select courses, perform degree evaluations, see your account balance, as well as view your grades, transcript and details of any holds on your account.

Office 365
The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus now offers all students Microsoft Office for free! The Microsoft Office product permits users to store and share documents online and undertake research.

Email services: myCaveHill Mail
The campus provides web-based e-mail services to all students through the Microsoft Live mail programme. Access to your email on-campus and off-campus is available 24/7 using either OR

Your default Email account information is:
Password: FL@ddmmyy  (i.e. First and Last Name initials in upper case, followed by the “@” sign and DOB - day, month, year, 2 digits each)
Log-into CHOL during registration week to verify your email address.

myCaveHill eLearning - (Online Lecture Notes and Course Tools)
myCaveHill eLearning gives you access to course material, and allows you to submit assignments, complete quizzes and participate in class discussions.  You have to first register for a course through CHOL before you can access it via myCaveHill elearning.

The Online Software Store
The online software store offers a selection of software at academic prices. In addition, students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology can access free software through the Microsoft Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Programme.

The IT Service Desk is the central point of contact for all IT Services.
Service Desk Regular Opening Hours:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
