The Caribbean Commercial Law Workshop (CCLW), first held in 1999, is not only the flagship law event for the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, but also the premier commercial law conference for Caribbean lawyers.
 
The Faculty of Law of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, is pleased to announce that the 21st Annual Caribbean Commercial Law Workshop will be hosted in Miami from July 20-22, 2025.
 

2025 Theme - Corporate and Commercial Law: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Legal Practice in the Caribbean
 

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), societal interactions, in many respects, have changed forever. The advent of AI has revolutionised how we function in our daily lives. In this same vein, the rapid development of this technology as it relates legal practice has become a topical issue in the last few years. AI presents various opportunities for Caribbean legal practice but is not without its own risks. Concerns have been raised about the future need for human lawyers with the advent of AI. The stark reality is that businesses (including legal practices) which do not embrace the benefits of AI risk being left behind. This year’s workshop will seek to explore the legal implications of AI on various areas of legal practice especially within the Caribbean context.

Persons are warmly invited to submit paper proposals for the Workshop.  All proposals must contain the full name and contact details of the presenter, the proposed paper title, and a short abstract of the paper topic (250 words maximum).  Papers should be related to the Workshop Theme and must be submitted by  January 17, 2025 to  lorna.payne@cavehill.uwi.edu.
