Professional Development Masterclass on Legal Advocacy
Event Dates: Friday, February 19, 2021 - Thursday, April 22, 2021
The Faculty of Law, Cave Hill, in collaboration with the Centre for Professional Development and Life Long Learning, is pleased to offer its Professional Development Masterclass on Legal Advocacy. It will be delivered over the course of four months by Mr. Justice Iain Morley QC, High Court Judge, of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, and legal practitioners and judges from a leading international advocacy training group.
The course will seek to instruct Caribbean advocates and law students on the fundamentals of how to be effective advocates in court. The course will cover topics including how to treat witnesses, how to structure questions, how to deliver a closing speech and professional ethics.
The sessions will be held in the afternoon and will employ a Hybrid Flexible approach, supported by PowerPoint, and will be delivered using interactive discussions, role playing and case analysis.
PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A UWI ACCREDITED CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION IF THEY ATTEND AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN AT LEAST 12 OF THE 16 SEMINAR HOURS.
