Fine Fare for a Cause

jazzartfash1-3-11-2019.jpgFine wine, fine fashion and fine art were served up in grand style at the Jazz, Art and Fashion event, on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

The soiree was one of the events held in the lead-up to the third annual RBC Race for the Kids, which was held on Sunday March 10, 2019.

Patrons who filled the 3Ws Pavilion of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus were surrounded by intricate and one-of-a-kind items available for sale under a silent auction. These included pieces of art by celebrated artists Alison Johnson, Jason Hope, Neville Legall and Rodney Ifill.

Those in attendance also received the rare opportunity to see an artist in action, as Maurice Forde worked on a painting titled, Embrace.

Later in the evening, the runway was cleared to showcase designs European designs compliments Grunge Mode Boutique. Marie Mabana’s authentic African wear were also a big hit on the evening.

The Arch Hall Ensemble provided the musical entertainment all evening, enveloping the pavilion with the sounds of smooth jazz.

Now in its third year, the RBC Race for the Kids raises funds for several youth and student-centred initiatives. Once again, The UWI Cave Hill’s First Year Experience programme and Cave Hill Campus Scholarship Fund will be the beneficiaries.

In 2018, close to 2,000 Barbadians and international participants took part in the race, raising an impressive BBD $120,000 for these two initiatives. In the last decade, RBC Race for the Kids has raised over CAD$ 47 million globally in support of youth and children’s charities.
