About Us: Meet our MPhil Graduate
Shamal Connell graduated with an MPhil in 2012. His thesis entitled ‘the west coast fringing reefs of Barbados: a broad-scale assessment of their ecological condition’ focussed on coral reef along Barbados’ west coast. The study assessed the condition of these important ecosystems and the anthropogenic impacts on them.
In 2007, he graduated from the University of the West Indies Mona Campus with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology. Prior to attending the University of the West Indies Mona Campus, he worked as an Airport Cadet in meteorology at the ET Joshua Airport, St. Vincent and the Grenadines for almost two years. There he dealt mainly with collecting, reporting and storing data and information on weather variables for use in aviation, dissemination to the general public as well as for climatological purposes.
