Introducing the MScN with specialisations in Education or Administration (APPLY NOW!)

These two new and exciting Nursing programmes at the Faculty of Medical Sciences have been developed in response to training needs of the region to meet the requirements of qualified nursing personnel in the field of education and administration.

The aim of the programmes is to promote excellence by offering opportunities to develop nurses personally and professionally. The programmes focus on the integration of research, theory and advanced nursing practice to prepare graduates for roles in nursing education, nursing administration, advanced clinical practice and nursing research.

Why Cave Hill?
The programmes offer comprehensive curriculum, flexible programs, and part-time study options that help nurses fit professional development into their already busy lives. Small classes, strong community, and outstanding faculty will prepare students for advanced educational and administrative roles, positioning them to shape the future of the health system in the region. We aim to prepare professional nurses to pursue the career of their dreams and help them build valuable, internationally-marketable skills they will need to advance through intense, challenging practicums.

These programmes are designed to attract Nursing’s best, brightest, and most motivated students. These degree offerings are new to the Cave Hill Campus, and indeed Barbados. Interest is high in the local Nursing sector and across the Eastern Caribbean, and therefore admission will be highly competitive.

Why the MScN?
Nursing as an industry has a need for an educated workforce to meet the demands of nurses today. Nurses are therefore pursuing higher levels of education as educators, administrators and  other types of specialists.

Industry research shows both an increasing interest among nurses, and an increasing need for the professional nurse, to assume the role of nurse educators or nurse administrators. The MScN with specialization in Education or Administration allows for the application of concepts in the classroom and clinical environments, respectively. The MScN graduate with specialization in Education is positioned to mentor students as they become competent healthcare providers with the aim of creating quality nurses and improving patient outcomes. The MScN graduate with specialization in Administration will have the opportunity to supervise a cross-section of nursing personnel and coordinate patient care, while meeting the goals and objectives of your department and organization.
