Basic Medical Science Faculty (Phase I)


Dr Uma Gaur Indian born anatomist joined. The University of the West Indies in 2008 as Senior lecturer. She qualified as M.S. (Master of surgery) in 1988 ; M.B.B.S. in 1984 from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, India. B.Sc. Botany (Hons.) with Physics (Pre-Med) Miranda House Delhi University India in 1978. Awarded Fellow of International Medical Science Academy (Geneva) Oct. 2007 and Fellowship in Counselling in Clinical Genetics by W.H.O in 2001.Worked as house officer in Surgery, Gynae and Obs till 1986.Worked as senior research officer till 1994(ICMR). Selected as Assistant professor anatomy in 1996. Worked as Professor till 2008 in Lady Hardinge Medical College India. Later in 2008 moved to Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the west Indies. Developed and coordinated the integrated curriculum for M.B.B.S., preclinical courses B.H. Sci; B Sc Sports medicine and coordinated teaching sessions for DM Psychiatry , Accident & Emergency Medicine and Ophthalmology as Phase I coordinator from 2015-2917.

Dr.Gaur possess a very strong research back ground, Submitted ---Research Thesis Title: “Histogenesis of cornea, iris and angle of the eye in human Fetuses” and a Project report submitted titled “Immunohistological study of tonsils”. Supervised five post graduate thesis. Her research interest are medical education and genetics.
