Greetings FST Students, and a Warm FST Welcome to One and All!!
It’s a new academic year and the start of a fresh semester! As you get ready for orientation, registration and the start of teaching in your new courses, we - the FST Family would just like to share the following important tips with all of you which we are sure you can live by daily while pursuing your studies with us:
1. Ask for help! There will be times when you feel so overwhelmed, lost, and confused. However, always remember that help is out there; you just have to find it. Our Faculty Office Team, your lecturers, tutors, family, and friends all care about you. So reach out to someone when your plate gets too full and lend a helping hand when someone is in need.
2. Work hard, but still enjoy life! School and grades are extremely important, but they do not define who you are as a person. We often get so caught up with perfection that we forget to have a little fun in between. So go out and get pizza with your friends one random night. Watch a bunch of movies and eat some ice cream (or a slice of your favourite cake). Take lots of pictures and laugh until your stomach hurts. Time will not stop, so make every second count.
3. SLEEP! You know your study habits better than anyone, so do what you need to do, but get some rest. There comes a time when you need to put the laptop, books and notecards down and let your body and mind take a break.
4. Always believe in yourself. Look at how far you have come in the past few months/years. You CAN and WILL make it through all of your courses, exams, and projects. Nobody said the journey ahead would be an easy one, but YOU CAN AND YOU WILL GET IT ALL DONE! So always have faith that everything will work out the way it is supposed to and it will.
5. Just Breathe. This semester is only what you make it. So try not to stress about the little things. Focus on your goals and just breathe. YOU'VE GOT THIS!
May these tips provided inspire and motivate you all to make it through to the end of this new semester, and throughout all your remaining semesters to follow in your respective programmes with us here in the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).
Cheers!!!
