All New Students
Mark these dates on your calendar:

Other dates (including examination periods, etc.) for 2020-2021 are available at CHOL.
 

If you have any special challenges, physical or otherwise, register with the Student Health Clinic as soon as possible, so that we can make arrangements for when these are needed.

International and Regional Students
Finalise your travel information.
Plan to arrive in Barbados ahead of the Live Online Orientation on August 28th.  
Remember that on arrival in Barbados you will be required to follow the National COVID Protocols governing quarantine and other requirements, depending on the country from which you are travelling and your recent travel history.
 
If you have been offered a place in a Hall of Residence, you should refer to your correspondence from the Halls for the date by which your deposit must be paid. 
Review the check-list for students joining us from abroad.

New Undergraduate Students

If you have been accepted into an Undergraduate programme, and you have to take FOUN 0100 Fundamentals of Written English, note that the fee for this course is an additional BDS $500, and this must be paid before registration.


New Postgraduate Students
  • If you have a firm offer, review the conditions and submit all documents requested as quickly as possible. 
  • If you have a provisional offer, let us know as soon as your degree has been conferred.
  • If you are from a UWI campus, you will not need to submit a new transcript. 
  • If you are from any other University, make arrangements to have your completed transcript sent to us as quickly as possible so that your offer can be confirmed.

All New Students
Become familiar with the Campus IT Services you will be using : Read the The Student Handbook - Essentials Guide 2019/2020.  In particular you should review the Campus' Refund Policy on p.84 and the related deadline dates.

What To Do When
Friday August 28nd Halls of Residence move-in day.
Monday August 31st  Refer to the Semester 1 Registration schedule and note your ONLINE registration slot.
Friday August 28th Undergraduate Orientation Forum(ONLINE)
   
Sunday August 30th All students are invited to attend the Multi-faith Commencement Service. (ONLINE)
Sunday August 30th Semester 1 fees should be paid by this date.  
Keep your receipt as you will need it to collect your ID card during registration week.
Monday August 31st
Registration Week - All Students
New Student Academic Counselling and Registration schedule will tell you the  date/time of your ONLINE session. 
All Undergraduate Students must:
  • attend their Dean’s address,
  • attend the mandatory academic counselling,
  • register on-line for classes, and
  • collect ID cards.  
Note: Dean's Address, Academic Counselling and Registration will all take place ONLINE.
Sunday, August 30th - Saturday, September 12th Undergraduate students are invited to attend Freshers’ activities.
Wednesday August 26th All Postgraduate Students are to attend the Orientation session and meet their Programme Coordinators/Academic Advisors. (ONLINE)
   
Thurday, August 27th Applicants to the University are required to take an ONLINE Proficiency Test in English which is scheduled for Thurday August 27, 2019 (for entry academic year 2020-2021).

Friday September 11th New Undergraduate students should sign up for FYE (First Year Experience) programme.
Friday September 4th All new students are invited to attend the Matriculation Ceremony. (ONLINE)

What to do when
Monday September 7th Teaching Begins - All Students
  • Classes start this week. 
  • Double check your online timetable in CHOL to ensure your registration is accurate.
  • Check that a personal email address is on file to assist in password reset. Log into your CHOL account, select Personal Information then the Update E-mail Address(es) options.
  • Update your Term Time address while in CHOL
  • Note that student notices to you will be posted on the Student PortalCHOL Website or sent to you via your mycavehill email address.
  Complete the New Student Survey!  Tell us what went well, and what did not go so well.
Monday September 14th
  • Tutorials start this week - Week 2. You will be advised by your lecturer.
  • Double check your online timetable via the CHOL Login for any room changes. 
Friday September 18th If you have been accepted into a Postgraduate programme and for some reason cannot take up that place, this is the deadline to inform the Graduate Studies office in writing.
