Access and Circulation Policies
The Audine Wilkinson Library is a research library which has been designated to reading room status, that is, the items may only be used in the library.
The library is open to the following persons:
- Academic staff
- Professional staff
- Research staff
- Senior Administrative staff
- Permanent Administrative, Technical and Support (ATS) staff of The UWI
- Registered Graduate Students
- Researchers (from other academic and non-academic institutions).

Use of the Library
You are advised to follow the guidelines below:
- Eating and drinking are strictly forbidden.
- Cell phones should be turned off or placed on vibrate.
- Briefcases, bags, etc. must be stored in the lockers provided.
- All users must present valid identification.
- All users must complete the Library's registration form which is obtained from the circulation desk and is valid for one academic year.
- Only The UWI Cave Hill academic staff members may be given limited borrowing privileges for (two weeks) when items are unavailable from the Sidney Martin Library, UWI, Cave Hill.
- Please note that publications which are rare, fragile, reference material, bound journals or newspapers may NOT be removed from the Library.
- External researchers who require research to be done by library staff may be charged a fee of $25.00 per hour or part thereof.
- Copying/printing may be done in the library at a cost of 25 cents per page.
- Consultant reports, theses and fragile documents will NOT be copied.
Lost/Damaged Material
Any user who damages or loses an item will be charged the current cost of replacement of that item in addition to administrative charges.
If the item is found and returned, the replacement charge will be refunded but there will be a non-refundable $20.00 service charge per item.
NOTES:
- The Library is part of the UWI, Cave Hill Library network and books borrowed will be counted against their total allowance.
- Books borrowed may be renewed if they have not been reserved by another user, in that case, it may be recalled. A borrower who fails to return a book after it has been recalled by three notices will have their borrowing privileges suspended until the book is returned.
- The Librarian reserves the right to deny reading room privileges to any user based on pre-established lending criteria e.g. out-of-print, rare or fragile documents.
